Musculoskeletal Disorders AxisResearch Focus
Research focuses on the hormonal regulation of calcium and skeletal homeostasis and the biology of the hormones, parathyroid hormone related peptide, parathyroid hormone, calcitonin and vitamin D. This is geared to understanding the interaction of cancer with the skeleton, identification of novel tumour markers and on mechanisms of development, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and other metabolic bone diseases.
Keywords
parathyroid hormone(PTH), parathyroid hormone related peptide(PTHrP), vitamin D, calcium homeostasis, osteoporosis, renal osteodystrophy, rickets, genetic models of bone disease, molecular mechanisms of skeletal development
